Job summary:
The Echo lab at Baystate Medical Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate cardiac sonographer who will be willing to take on challenging assignments, be flexible to rotate on weekends and holidays, and be willing to travel within our four regional locations. The sonographer will perform echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients. The sonographer will acquire quality diagnostic images for interpretations. The echo lab at BMC is IAC accredited in TTE, TEE and stress echo. We are offering a competitive wage package, benefits package and sign on bonus.
About us:
Baystate Medical Center, located in Springfield, Massachusetts, is a non-profit hospital and an integrated hospital with more than 700 beds and 12,000 employees. Baystate is a teaching hospital and a level-1 trauma center. Baystate provides patient-center care to our patients and their families. The Heart & Vascular program is an essential program at Baystate. It includes the interventional cardiac lab, the cardiac and vascular surgical group, the non-invasive cardiology lab, and the electrophysiology lab. The echo lab has 12 sonographers and 9 noninvasive cardiologists, performs TTEs, TEEs and stress echoes. The lab also supports TEE for interventional procedures, including structural heart (TAVR, Mitral Valvular procedures), device closures, and mechanical support for advanced heart failure.
Job description:
- Must have proficiency in performing quality diagnostic exams as indicated by IAC standard echocardiogram.
- Demonstrate knowledge of optimizing equipment to enhance image quality, including 2D, Doppler, Color flow and utilizing contrasts as needed. Must be familiar with 3D full volume and 3D structure image, and strain concept and applications.
- Must be able to identify and differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology. Inform cardiologist of any acute critical findings.
- Must have experiences in TEE assistance.
- Must have a good work ethic and a good attendance.
- Willing to take on challenging assignments. Must be willing to work flexibly and cooperatively work with others.
- Expresses compassion for those we serve and demonstrates understanding for different perspectives and cultures and respect for different values and points of view.
- Have strong communication and organization skills to interact with all department teams and health care providers.

License/ Certification:
- Must register by ARDMS or CCI. Or to be eligible for registration with license obtained within 6 months of hire for new grads.
- Must maintain continued education.
- Current BLS required through AHA.
Education and /or experience:
- Minimal associate degree is required.
- Must have graduated from accredited school in echocardiography.
- Preferred at least minimal 2 years recent clinical experience.
