Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’s premier healthcare provider, is hiring for the Apprentice Nurse Program (ANP) at Noble Hospital in Westfield, MA. This is a great opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience in an acute care, inpatient rehabilitation setting.

Program Overview

The Apprentice Nurse Program is designed for students actively enrolled in an accredited RN program (ACEN or CCNE) who are looking to build clinical experience while in school. You’ll work on the Bronson Rehabilitation Unit, supporting patient care and developing essential nursing skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will:

  • Assist with direct patient care (hygiene, mobility, skin care, elimination needs)

  • Take and document vital signs

  • Collect lab specimens

  • Record intake and output

  • Communicate effectively with patients and care team members

  • Support patient safety and quality care initiatives

  • Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team

Position Highlights

  • Hands-on experience in acute inpatient rehabilitation nursing

  • Exposure to a wide range of diagnoses and patient populations

  • Development of clinical, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Mentorship and support from experienced nursing professionals

Schedule & Requirements

  • Minimum 200 hours per year (excluding orientation)

  • School year:

    • Preferred: 36 hours per 12-week period

    • Flexible shifts: 4, 8, or 12 hours

  • Summer:

    • 24 hours per week (8- or 12-hour shifts)

    • Weekend requirement: 24 hours every 4 weeks

Additional hours may be available based on department needs

About the Unit – Bronson Rehabilitation

Our acute inpatient rehab unit provides:

  • Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy

  • 24/7 skilled nursing care

  • Interdisciplinary care planning and social services support

  • Oversight by a Physiatrist (Rehabilitation Medicine Physician)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers required

  • Completed at least one clinical rotation (Fundamentals) or 6 months of direct patient care experience

  • Resume required with application
