Program Overview
The Apprentice Nurse Program is designed for students actively enrolled in an accredited RN program (ACEN or CCNE) who are looking to build clinical experience while in school. You’ll work on the Bronson Rehabilitation Unit, supporting patient care and developing essential nursing skills in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will:

Assist with direct patient care (hygiene, mobility, skin care, elimination needs)

Take and document vital signs

Collect lab specimens
-
Record intake and output
-
Communicate effectively with patients and care team members

Support patient safety and quality care initiatives
-
Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
Position Highlights

Hands-on experience in acute inpatient rehabilitation nursing

Schedule & Requirements

Minimum 200 hours per year (excluding orientation)

School year:

Preferred: 36 hours per 12-week period

Flexible shifts: 4, 8, or 12 hours

Summer:

24 hours per week (8- or 12-hour shifts)

Weekend requirement: 24 hours every 4 weeks

About the Unit – Bronson Rehabilitation
Our acute inpatient rehab unit provides:

Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy
-
24/7 skilled nursing care
-
Interdisciplinary care planning and social services support

Oversight by a Physiatrist (Rehabilitation Medicine Physician)
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)

AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers required
-
Completed at least one clinical rotation (Fundamentals) or 6 months of direct patient care experience
