Summary Description:
The VP & Chief Applications Officer reports to the SVP & Chief Information Digital Officer and is a key member of the senior digital leadership team. The VP & Chief Applications Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive platform strategy across Baystate and Health New England.
The VP provides leadership and oversight for all enterprise applications including administrative/business, revenue cycle, decision support, custom development, and clinical, at Baystate Health and HNE.
The VP will ensure that application systems support the vision and strategies, including AI enablement. The VP plays a key transformational role in establishing and executing a vision and strategy for the optimized use of IT solutions to enable operational excellence and performance, business intelligence and transactional efficiencies.
The VP establishes core department artifacts: vision and goals; standards and practices; operational measures and performance indicators; financial stewardship and management. The VP is responsible to build a high performing team of leaders and team members. The VP will have a strong service orientation and focus and will strive to mentor and develop a service-oriented team and support their individual and collective growth and development.
Working closely with the SVP & CIDO, the VP will work to build consensus regarding enterprise platforms and initiatives by frequent, open and easily understood communications throughout the organization and help lead governance across the enterprise.

Job Requirements:
This VP & Chief Applications Officer will:
• Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations. Contribute to departmental goals, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Builds credibility with senior leadership, clinicians, and staff by providing informed leadership and participating in IT Governance and prioritization.
• Partners with CIDO to define IT strategy aligned with the organizational and IT strategic plan.
• Serves as liaison with strategic industry vendor partners for all implemented systems and applications. Manages vendor relationships, resolves issues, and oversees vendor/third-party risk management processes.
• Works closely with key physicians and clinicians to positively impact and improve patient care via clinical systems. Works closely with administrative and financial staff to positively impact productivity and financial reporting via administrative and financial application systems.
• Develops the IT structure and discipline required to effectively manage large-scale system implementations.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate. Lead security-related due diligence and integration for M&A activities.
• Supports business technology planning with current insights and future-state vision.
• Ensures processes are in place for budgeting and lifecycle planning of strategic and tactical initiatives.
Required Expereince:
10+ years of IT or business leadership, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in IT, with 7 years in management in a large complex healthcare organization or vendor, is required.
