Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Postpartum Unit at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our department provides compassionate, family-centered care to postpartum patients and their newborns during the transition to parenthood, working closely with obstetric providers, pediatric providers, lactation specialists, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care and support positive maternal and newborn outcomes.

The Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity to build meaningful connections with new parents and their newborns while developing expertise in postpartum and newborn care. Nurses play an essential role in educating and empowering families, recognizing changes in maternal and newborn conditions, and partnering with a multidisciplinary team to create a safe and supportive experience during the transition home.

The Registered Nurse Will:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients throughout recovery following delivery.
  • Assess maternal and newborn status, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Monitor vital signs, pain, bleeding, incision/perineal healing, and other postpartum assessments.
  • Support breastfeeding, lactation, newborn feeding, and safe infant care practices.
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, medications, warning signs, and discharge needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring effectiveness and potential complications.
  • Collaborate with obstetric providers, pediatric providers, lactation consultants, and the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Prepare patients and families for a safe transition home while promoting confidence, independence, and positive maternal-newborn outcomes.

Required Skills  

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year RN experience required
  • ASN or BSN

Compensation

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum

$41.82 – $54.06 – $66.30
