Infection Preventionist / Employee Health Nurse (RN) Summary
The Infection Preventionist (IP) / Employee Health (EH) Nurse supports and advances a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Employee Health program. This role focuses on surveillance, prevention, education, regulatory compliance, and collaboration to reduce healthcare-associated infections and protect patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities

Perform infection surveillance using NHSN definitions and epidemiologic principles

Identify, investigate, and manage clusters, outbreaks, and exposures

Report mandatory HAIs to NHSN and internal stakeholders

Analyze and trend data using TheraDoc, laboratory reports, and readmission data

Conduct isolation, environmental, and construction rounds and provide real-time feedback

Participate in ICRA and WICRA activities with Facilities and Engineering

Collaborate with Employee Health on work-related exposure investigations

Prepare facility for Joint Commission and regulatory surveys

Support outbreak investigations and public health reporting

Facilitate and participate in infection prevention committees

Provide infection prevention education, in-services, and staff training
-
Support influenza vaccination and N95 respiratory protection programs
Employee Health Responsibilities
-
Support annual influenza vaccination campaign compliance
-
Support respiratory protection (N95) surveillance and fit testing
-
Serve as a resource for pandemic or Employee Health Services programs
-
Assess sharps and body fluid exposure risks and support prevention strategies
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)
-
Active Massachusetts RN license
-
Minimum 2 years RN experience

Minimum 2 years Infection Prevention experience in acute care

Certification in Infection Prevention (CIC) required within 2 years of eligibility

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in performance improvement processes.
Skills

NHSN data entry and surveillance experience

Strong analytical and reporting skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Compensation
Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

$98,051.00 – $112,715.00 – $133,348.00
