Summary: 

Under the direction of the Director, Quality & Medical Management, perform a variety of tasks involving the monitoring, assessment, and analysis of quality and safety practices and the utilization of hospital resources. to optimize quality and safety through out Baystate Medical Center.

Coordinate and manage the quality and safety review process. Collect and analyze data as assigned. Prepare formal reports for presentation. Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, easily retrievable, and current as required by department policy and the Joint Commission (JC). Participate in Quality Research, Quality Measurement and Benchmark activities as appropriate.

Collaborates with Performance Improvement staff to coordinate and manage the service-line Performance Improvement process. Assure that service-line dashboards are completed and up to date. Investigate internal and external best practices, compile benchmark reports, conduct gap analysis, and report findings to service-line related to quality and safety.

Act as a resource to medical, nursing, and support staff. Assist hospital staff to analyze benchmark data and quality improvement opportunities.

Systematically track quality of care problems: ensure related horizontal and vertical communications occur in a highly confidential and timely manner; consistent with Medical Center policies. Validate the accuracy of assigned reports. Ensure system issues identified for Peer Review are referred and tracked for follow up.

Keep Director, Quality & Medical Management appraised of any potential problems identified through monitoring activities. Make recommendations for the continued development of Healthcare Quality. Work with the Director to identify issues, communicate with the medical staff and provide feedback. Make recommendations for improvement.

Attend meetings and/or seminars as directed.

Job Responsibilities: 

1) Individual will organize and coordinate data abstraction, data entry, ensure data validity, presentation and preliminary analyses for selected projects sponsored and/or supported by DHQ. He/she will collaborate with primary investigator(s) on selected DHQ projects.

2) He/she will manage/direct/lead/collaborate with necessary ancillary/intradepartmental staff to ensure quality project implementation, monitoring, feedback and identify and implement appropriate next steps.

3) He/she will assist in the measurement of the effectiveness and efficiency of health care service delivery for continuous quality improvement purposes and based on data will develop, recommend and monitor process redesign.

4) Responsible for the abstraction, entry, management, analysis and report of health care data which is the foundation of BMC mandatory publicly reported data set, targeted clinical studies and the dissemination of results through presentation or clearly written narrative.

5) He/she will serve as a liaison to Performance Improvement teams and work with physicians and other personnel to manage quality improvement and resource management studies and facilitate access to clinical and administrative data.

Required Work Experience: 

1) Bachelor's degree in a related field with 5 years clinical experience or 5 years experience in healthcare data coordination, relevant healthcare organization activities and interaction with physicians and staff in an administrative capacity

Skills and Competencies: 

1) The individual should have experience in independent project management, efficiency, and an understanding of the principles surrounding performance improvement, quality of care, outcomes measurement and analysis and health care cost measurement and containment

2)  Be able to communicate effective verbally and in writing

3)  Proficient with use of computers including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MIDAS preferred

Certifications:

Compensation

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum

$98,051.00 – $112,715.00 – $133,348.00
