DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
- This unit has a highly experienced team that supports 24 new state of the art inpatient/outpatient operating rooms and 8 heart and vascular and neurology interventional procedure rooms, performing surgical procedures to restore and enhance the lives of patients.
- This unit operates 24/7 with coverage and support expectations of weekends and off-shift rotations at least quarterly.

What You’ll Do
Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads, you will:

Facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures under surgeon guidance
-
Maintain and monitor the sterile field
-
Apply expert knowledge of aseptic technique, instrumentation, anatomy, and surgical processes
-
Anticipate surgeon needs with precision and focus
-
Support minimally invasive, invasive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures
-
Function confidently across multiple surgical specialties
Your ability to anticipate, adapt, and collaborate ensures efficient procedures and optimal patient outcomes.

Tech I
-
Associate of Science in Surgical Technology (or accredited equivalent program)

AST Certification*

American Heart Association BLS

Entry-level
*Certification required for new hires without surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013.
Tech II
-
Same educational and certification requirements as Tech I
-
Minimum 2 years of experience
-
1 year at BMC or 2 years comparable experience with demonstrated competency
Tech III
-
Same educational and certification requirements
-
Minimum 4 years of experience
-
1 year of employment at Baystate Health
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered where applicable.

Compensation & Benefits
Baystate Health offers competitive total compensation, including salary, a robust benefits package, and recognition programs. Compensation is determined by factors such as experience, education, certifications, and job complexity.
Please note: Base pay range does not include comprehensive benefits or incentive pay.
Sign-On Bonus Eligibility
Up to $3,000 sign-on bonus available for qualified external candidates with experience including recent graduates. (Subject to change)

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
