As a Respiratory Therapist, you'll work under the direction of a physician to provide expert respiratory care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients. You'll perform diagnostic evaluations, administer therapeutic treatments, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to deliver exceptional patient care across a variety of clinical settings.
What You'll Do
As a Respiratory Therapist, your responsibilities include:
- Perform comprehensive cardiopulmonary assessments and diagnostic testing
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders
- Perform pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, sleep studies, and other invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures
- Administer respiratory therapies, including:
- Medical gas therapy
- Aerosol and humidity therapy
- Airway clearance techniques
- Artificial airway management
- Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
- Vascular catheter insertion, management, and care
- Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
- Assess patient response to therapy and modify treatment plans based on clinical assessment and established protocols
- Conduct regular patient rounds and collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in the management of acute and chronic respiratory diseases
- Support hemodynamic monitoring and critical care interventions
- Assist with discharge planning and patient education
- Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue events while providing advanced respiratory support
- Maintain respiratory therapy equipment and ensure compliance with quality, safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
- Precept new Respiratory Therapists and Resident Nurse students as assigned
- Maintain required certifications, including additional American Heart Association certifications based on the assigned facility. Respiratory Therapists working in facilities with Obstetrics services must obtain and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Meet and maintain the clinical ladder requirements for a Level II Respiratory Therapist
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of one year of clinical Respiratory Therapy experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compensation
Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
