The Wellness and Worklife Consultant is a part of an integrated team that advances Baystate Health's vision by identifying and addressing employee health and well-being needs which are essential to support a strong and energized workforce that is capable of delivering a higher state of caring for patients.

This position plays a diverse role for the design, coordination and delivery of wellness and worklife programs, events and communications to achieve long-term engagement and yield desirable outcomes and return on investment.  The Wellness and Worklife Consultant plays a lead role in developing and implementing effective communication and marketing strategies to support program delivery through internal and external service providers for optimal impact on program participation across the Baystate enterprise. 

This position compiles and analyzes essential data for program evaluation and strategic planning. The  Wellness and Worklife Consultant is responsible for highly complex projects and works independently to achieve department goals and desirable results.  In addition, this role may work directly with business leaders to assess specific wellness/worklife needs of a target population group and collaborate to develop and implement workable solutions.   

  • Help lead initiatives for the design and delivery programs based on evidence-based theories for behavior change to meet employee needs across the enterprise.  Support development of comprehensive scope of programs, services and events, including program delivered via onsite, remote and e-learning. 

  • Design and develop effective educational materials, including providing support for the development of online content/layout.  Write program communications for high priority, complex initiatives, based on current health/medical science, principles of health behavior change and employee benefit learning needs to motivate program adoption and positive health outcomes.

  • Coordinates and ensures annual wellness program compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and company policy.

  • Provide confidential data analysis and consultation to business units and management regarding employee needs for wellness and worklife programs and services. Collaborates across HR and with business leaders to develop and implement workable solutions.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations and effectively articulate thoughts to a wide range of environments and diverse audiences, including management level.    

  • Help lead initiatives for program advisory teams, wellness networks and focus groups to gather internal program feedback and enhance participation and engagement.

  • Manage coordination of wellness and worklife information and resources on e-workplace and other social networking solutions to enhance communication, visibility and access to programs and services. 

  • Accountable for accurate data tracking, analysis and reporting of program-specific data.  Perform basic statistical analysis and interpretation of results for individual program evaluation.

  • Actively participate in Culture of Health strategic business planning process to address employee health needs based on data and achieve measurable outcomes.     

  • Help provide guidance, training and oversight for level one health/well-being consultants.     

Minimally Required Experience:

7+ years relevant experience in worksite health promotion.

Preferred Education:

5+ years relevant experience in human behavior, behavior change, organizational development or psychology.

Skills/Competencies:

Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify timelines and action plans for detailed, multiphase projects and see through to completion.  Lead and independently develop and organize the planning and delivery process for most programs, including new or more complex projects and vendor relationships. Ability to think critically and problem-solve.  Ability to assess issues as they arise and devise the best actions for moving forward. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders across organization, vendors, and teams to coordinate activities around well-being.  Strong knowledge of principles for health promotion, behavior change and population health management.  Consistently able to use communication for a range of purposes; ie inform, instruct, motivate and persuade.
