Summary:
Reports to the Nurse Manager, but daily activities are coordinated by the charge nurse. Independently works with patient and family centered care teams to ensure all business functions related to processing patient information, managing documentation, organizing patient medical record, and facilitating smooth unit operations. Files appropriate patient reports and other information for their records. Facilitates communication among staff, relaying messages/information. Facilitates bed management and patient throughput on unit. Performs functions necessary to process direct admissions to the unit. Acts as receptionist for visitors to unit and also as a business partner to the department and clinical staff. Orients patients and families to the unit, answering routine questions.
Description of job functions:

- Facilitates communication among staff, relaying messages/information
- Facilitates bed management and patient throughput on unit
- Performs functions necessary to process direct admissions to the unit
- Acts as receptionist for visitors to unit and as a business partner to the department and clinical staff
- Orients patients and families to the unit, answering routine questions
- Record and process EKG monitor strips for defined cardiac patient populations
- Assure proper placement and maintenance of all monitoring equipment
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
- CPR through AHA must be obtained prior to start date
- Previous clerical and customer service, preferably in a medical environment
- Computer literate, good interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking skills with proficient math aptitude
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Must take and pass required dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks of hire
What you need to know:
- 8 and/or 12 hour shifts available
- Day, evening, and overnight shifts available
- Part time, per diem, and full-time positions available
- Holidays and/or weekends may be required
- Sign on bonus offered for several positions
