Summary:
Responsible for coordinating activities related to preparation and analysis of financial statements and tax returns for Baystate Medical Center (BMC), Baystate Franklin Medical Center (BFMC), Baystate Noble Hospital (BNH) and Baystate Wing Hospital (BWH) and preparation and analysis of budgets for the entities mentioned above. This position reports to the Manager, Health System Financial Reporting and provides routine oversight to accounting staff. Responsible for coordinating a variety of activities required to provide timely and accurate financial reports, budgets, and tax returns as well as a high level of customer service to all operating and finance departments.
Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate all aspects of the general ledger function for BMC, BFMC, BNH and BWH to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions related to cash receipts, accounts payable, purchasing, intercompany accounts, fixed assets, patient accounts receivables, revenues and expenses.

Review account reconciliations, journal entries, check registers, etc. for BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH.

Prepare BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH monthly financial statements and account analysis.

Provide routine oversight to BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH accountants.

Participate in monthly financial review meetings.

Serve as Accounting's liaison to internal departments (Clinical Engineering, Communications, and Real Estate Services) to meet requests and needs of the department.

Compile federal and state income tax/informational returns.

Assist in preparation of audited financial statements and supporting schedules for external auditors.

Support the annual budget process for BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH to ensure timely completion and uploading of the annual budget. Provide resource support to operating managers in the development of realistic, adequately documented operating and capital budgets.

Assist in preparation of cash flows and other related reports in connection with quarterly debt reporting requirements for BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH.

Create ad-hoc financial reports to meet the informational needs of BMC, BFMC, BNH, and BWH management, auditors etc. Investigate and analyze issues raised by management and other finance associates.
Minimally Required Work Experience:
- 3+ years general ledger experience/related discipline
Minimally Required Education:
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting
Preferred Work Experience:
- 3 to 5 years in healthcare accounting and related discipline with Lawson Accounting software experience
