Summary Description:
This position will support multiple Clinical/Ancillary/Hospital and Infrastructure projects within the corresponding portfolios.
The IT Project Manager plans, directs, controls and implements highly complex, large-scale, strategic IT projects enabling technology solutions and systems to meet department and enterprise-wide business and clinical needs using Baystate Health IT standard project management methodologies. They are a member of the IT Program Management Office (PMO) and perform additional PMO related activities such as: providing feedback into an ongoing PMO improvement, contributing to developing training and coaching materials for the PM Leads outside of the PMO, mentoring other PMs/Project Leads, and participate in brainstorming sessions for enterprise-wide Project and Program related outreach and PMO framework implementation.
Job Requirements:
1) Project Mgmt. Manage projects using BH-specific project management methodology to deliver technology that drives business/clinical/infrastructure benefit. This includes all project management activities:
2) Project Planning
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Identify and allocate necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and technology.
3) Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, IT staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with project goals.
Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders, including senior management.
4) Risk Management
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans.
Monitor and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
5) Vendor Management
Evaluate and select external vendors and suppliers for IT solutions.
Oversee vendor contracts, negotiations, and performance
6) Budget Management
Monitor project budgets and expenses, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
Prepare and present cost estimates and financial reports.
7) Quality Assurance
Ensure that IT solutions meet regulatory and quality standards, such as HIPAA and HITECH Act compliance.
Implement testing and validation processes to verify system functionality.
8) Change Management
Develop and execute change management plans to facilitate the adoption of new technology solutions by healthcare staff.
Train end-users and provide ongoing support.
9) Documentation and Reporting
Maintain project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and documentation of project decisions.
Generate regular progress reports and present them to relevant stakeholders.
10) Project Closure
Conduct post-implementation reviews to evaluate project success and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure a smooth transition to ongoing support and maintenance.
11) Vendor Management
Manage vendor relationships within scope of project-specific work- not limited to contract reconciliation, maintenance agreements, managing enhancements and upgrades, issue escalation, and partnership agreements.
12) Develop and maintain effective lines of communication and relationships with IT leaders and staff, appropriate BH leaders and staff, project sponsors and champions, to ensure IT department is delivering effective and efficient projects and services. This includes, but is not limited to, setting up, chairing, and presenting at project, partner advisory, decision-making, oversight, steer, department, and other meetings. Provide and present organizational communication and education related to the areas of responsibility. Ensure communications are consistent and coordinated. Mentor and perform PMO education
13) Identifies and pursues opportunities for continuing professional development to increase understanding of assigned areas, information technology direction, and healthcare direction.
Required Experience:
8 or more years of project management experience
4 or more years of supervisory experience with project staff
Preferred Experience:
10 or more years' experience in managing complex, strategic information technology programs and projects in healthcare is preferred and must be recent (within the last five years)
Cerner Experience and/or Knowledge
Skills/Competencies:
Demonstrated negotiation, communication, facilitation, efficient decision making and problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
Ability to partner well with General Contractors, Vendors, and technical teams
