Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, is searching for a Safety Technician to provide technical support services for the Baystate Health System entities.

Responsibilities       

  • Maintain Respiratory protection equipment, including but not limited to providing training, maintenance, inventory management, and inspections.
  • Manage the collection, storage, and off-site disposal of all hazardous waste.
  • Coordinate and maintain the record of all personal sampling.
  • Perform the required inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment.
  • Manage hazardous waste manifests and maintain all required records.
  • Maintain Safety & Environmental Department equipment, including but not limited to calibration, inventory, and routine maintenance.
  • Participate in safety and hazardous materials audits and emergency preparedness activities.
  • Transport ergonomic equipment to BH facilities as needed.

Required Work Experience: 

  • Associate degree Required; Bachelor’s preferred in relative field of study:  Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Safety, Chemistry
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a safety or industrial hygiene related position preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office,

Schedule and Location

  • Location – Office location is 354 Birnie Ave. Springfield
  • Full Time Monday – Friday
