The Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Sciences at Baystate Medical Center Invites applications for a research minded Exercise Physiologist. We welcome applicants who have a background in human subjects research and exercise physiology.
The successful candidate will work with cardiac rehabilitation expert Dr. Quinn Pack on three NIH clinical trials. The funded projects are all aimed at implementing healthcare interventions for improving patient outcomes. The successful candidate will bring their strengths to work with a supportive, skilled, and collaborative team to implement the three clinical trials.
The PACE SETTER clinical trial (R01AG077179) is comparing an exercise prescription in cardiac rehabilitation based on either exercise testing with a target heart rate, or usual care exercise using only ratings of perceived exertion. The STOP-NPT3 (RO1HL15685-01705) implementation trial will use a nurse practitioner-led tobacco treatment team to help patients quit smoking, while also assessing the economic impacts of the intervention. The Ambulation trial (1R01AG073278) will test the value of regular ambulation in hospitalized patients among 3,000 patients at 6 hospitals. For more information about these trials, see reporter.NIH.gov and search using the grant number.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to promote exercise and health promotion research, recruit and implement the study interventions, and assist with preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the principal investigator. This position is fully grant funded through 2027. The position includes the opportunity for training related to the funded grants, and for conference presentation travel.
