Summary:
The pharmacy technician trainee reports to the pharmacy manager to assist pharmacists by performing all technical tasks relating to the preparation, distribution and storage of pharmaceuticals, for patients of Baystate Medical Center and the Baystate Health system. Accepts/follows direction from pharmacist, follows pharmacist work-flow process (ex: set up meds for checking per managing pharmacist's direction); effectively communicates work activities (ex: obtains pharmacist approval to leave department for deliveries, breaks etc). Operates and troubleshoots equipment and pharmacy systems. Receives and refers incoming calls for the department, handles pharmacy window. Serves as pharmacy representative inside and outside of pharmacy department. Incumbent is required to achieve Massachusetts Technician Registration after completing 500 hours of work experience/training
Job Responsibilities:
1) Accepts/follows direction from pharmacist and follows pharmacist work-flow process (ex: set up meds for checking per supervising pharmacist's direction). Effectively communicates work activities (ex: obtains pharmacist approval to leave department for deliveries, breaks etc).
2) Accurately fills medication orders, maintains drug inventory (re-orders needed medications), prepares products within appropriate time standards, and enables pharmacist review of all work.
3) Operates and troubleshoots Pharmacy Point of Sale Register systems and Pharmacy Robotics (Parata max / ScriptPro)
4) Accurately compounds, labels medications for pharmacist verification.
5) Receives and refers incoming calls for the department; Handles pharmacy window; Pharmacy representative in and out of the pharmacy, accepts, reviews and responds to e-mails.
Required Work Experience:
1) Must hold a Massachusetts Pharmacy Tech Trainee registration/license.
