Summary:
In addition to the Clinical Pharmacist I and II responsibilities, the Informatics Pharmacist Specialist works in the build, implementation and maintenance of automation and technology to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems, and the medication‐use process.
Our Informatics Pharmacist Specialists specialize in the medication use process, from drug procurement to preparation and dispensing, all the way through ordering to administration. They support effective process design and development and leverage technology and automation to support our Electronic Medical Record, Clinical Decision Support and safe medication use practices to support patient care. Supports pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other clinicians as the subject matter expert resource for requests related to pharmacy automation and technology, our EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions. Provides EMR‐ and other pharmacy-related staff education/training and auditing and reporting related to the various systems and programs. Supports, leads and participates in informatics-related meetings.
Additional responsibilities include inpatient pharmacy staffing; precepting of pharmacy residents and student learners; and strategic planning for pharmacy technology and automation as well as other EMR/CDS enhancements.
Job Responsibilities:
1) Maintains functional skills as a pharmacist, which may involve operational support for medication order processing and dispensing to maintain competency and obtain the necessary information to execute process improvement changes.
2) Supports, manages, and oversees all Pharmacy Technology and Automation, including implementation, training as well as auditing and reporting responsibilities for the various systems, programs and automation to demonstrate quality/productivity metrics. Participates in the process of identifying and facilitating advanced clinical decision support.
3) Supports EHR/EMR design, build and maintenance and IV Pump library maintenance.
4) Strategic planning resource for Pharmacy Technology, including recommendations for enhancements, upgrades, new products, equipment or automation.
Required Work Experience:
1) PGY-1/2 Residency or at least 3 years applicable experience
Preferred Work Experience:
1) 2 years of pharmacy informatics experience, or certification in informatics is strongly preferred
2) Experience with process improvement work and informatics-related projects
3) Experience with Cerner, BD Pyxis/Logistic/Alaris or DoseEdge strongly preferred.

3) Working knowledge of and able to use all technology required to perform primary job functions
