Patient Care Technician – Wesson 4

Location: Springfield, MA
Hours: 36 hours/week | Shift: Days (7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.)
Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
Certification: American Heart Association BLS (CPR) required

Summary

Join Baystate Health as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on our Wesson 4 unit in Springfield, MA.
Working under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), you’ll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients while supporting the overall operations of the unit. This role offers the opportunity to build your skills in a dynamic hospital environment and make a real difference in patients’ lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide age-appropriate, compassionate bedside care — including hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring

  • Obtain and record vital signs, weights, and other patient data accurately and on time

  • Assist nurses and physicians with treatments, procedures, and patient exams

  • Perform and document Point of Care (POC) testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs as needed

  • Support patient elimination needs and specimen collection per established procedures

  • Maintain equipment, ensure patient safety, and respond promptly to emergencies

  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members

  • Participate as a valued member of a collaborative care team

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Previous healthcare experience a plus

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required)

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain composed in fast-paced situations

  • Commitment to providing excellent, compassionate patient care
