Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’s premier healthcare provider, and home to Baystate Wing Hospital (BWH). BWH is a community hospital with a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and behavioral health services located in Palmer, MA, is looking for an Operations Associate to join our Team!

Department Description:

The Operations Associate reports to the Nurse Manager but daily activities are coordinated by the charge nurse on the Medical/Surgical/Intermediate Care Units. Independently works with patient and family centered care teams to insure all business functions related to processing patient information, managing documentation, organizing patient medical record and facilitating smooth unit operations of the unit. Files appropriate patient reports and other information for their records. Facilitates communication among staff, relaying messages/information. Facilitates bed management and patient throughput on unit. Performs functions necessary to process direct admissions to the unit. Acts as receptionist for visitors to unit and also as a business partner to the department and clinical staff. Orients patients and families to the unit, answering routine questions. Able to multitask.

  • Three shifts; 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm and One shift; 7:00 am to 7:30 pm includes rotating weekends and holidays

  • Position located at Baystate Wing Hospital, Palmer, MA


  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree preferred

  • Previous acute hospital experience

  • Must take and pass required dysrhythmia course within 6 weeks of hire

  • Proficient computer skills, interpersonal skills, delegation training, team training, critical thinking skills

  • OAS Gold Training

  • Conflict Resolution Training

  • Ability to organize and prioritize

  • Ability to read and write in English, and/or unit specific competencies
