The Baystate Family Advocacy Center’s (BFAC) is a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center. Our main goal is to improve access to and coordination of services for children and their families who have been traumatized by child abuse, sexual assault or exploitation, exposure to violence and/or homicide. Children and families served reside in Hampden County or surrounding areas. The FAC provides culturally sensitive, comprehensive assessment of treatment needs, advocacy and coordination of services for children and families after a forensic interview, a child abuse medical assessment or after receiving a call on the intake line. Also provided are evidence-based trauma-focused individual and family therapy as well as group therapy for children and non-offending caregivers. 

Baystate Adult and Child Behavioral Health suffering with mental health or behavioral issues deserve expert, compassionate care. Our psychiatry team works together with our medical specialists to give complete psychiatric services.

The Medical Assistant will support the Family Advocacy Center’s medical providers during the child abuse medical assessments, including obtaining vitals, reviewing medication lists and providing supporting during the examination.  The MA will support the FAC for 50% of their time.  The MA will spend the other 50% of their time supporting Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health and Child Outpatient Behavioral Health with administrative tasks such as medication prior authorizations, collaboration with schools and external agencies, communicating with patients and families with clinical calls and treatment related paperwork.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES. Baystate Health, Medical Assistants perform an important role providing care to our patients. They take vital signs, perform patient intake and history, clinical orders, procedures, documentation and patient discharge. SCHEDULE.  Full time:  Monday thru Friday. No weekends, no Holidays

Requirements:

o    High School diploma or GED

o    CPR-Basic Life Support of Healthcare Provider required from the American Heart Association

o    Must be ONE of the following:

·         Certified through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

·         A Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Registered as an American Medical Technologist (AMT)

·         Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association

o    Great interpersonal skills, compassionate care giver and able to work in a fast paced environment a MUST.

Basic Life Support – American Heart Association, Certified Medical Assistant – Other, Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) – (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or 4. Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). – Credentialing must be awarded by a third-party credentialing body which can be obtained through: 1. Registered through Medical Assistant (ARMA) – (Minimum Requirement); 2. Registered through American Medical Technologist (AMT) association; or 3. Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) through the National Healthcare Association (NHA); or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or 4. Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) through National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
