Summary:

Under the direction of the Respiratory Protection Program Administrator and the Director, Employee Health & Leave Programs, the Fit Test Technician administers annually required respirator fit test to Baystate Health staff determined to be at risk for exposure to a biological respiratory contaminant.  This program is specific to the N95 filtering facepiece respirator and includes providing appropriate education in using the device. 

Job Requirements:

1) Be skilled in qualitative and quantitative fit testing techniques using both saccharine and denatonium benzoate for qualitative testing or the quantitative fit test instrument.

2) Be able to adequately educate the N95 filtering facepiece respirators' proper use of the devices.

3) If the fit test is unsuccessful, provide the employee with information on using a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR), obtaining a hood, and getting a loaner device for sporadic or intermittent use. 

4) Be able to complete the documentation for the fit test results correctly. 

5) Be flexible in schedule to support the evening and overnight shift as necessary and travel to other Baystate Health locations as required.

Minimally Required Experience:

Willingness to learn qualitative and quantitative fit test experience.

OHM knowledge is a plus.
